Characterization of fresh and hardened state properties of grouts for use in structural masonry

Abstract Grout is a material usually applied to enhance the mechanical properties of structural masonry. As such, demand for grout has been growing parallel Without guidelines mixing design, these products are often prepared on-site based on same concepts used preparing ordinary Portland cement-based concretes. Several still need be investigated and understood due this mixing-design approach, consequently, production ecoefficient grouts secondary priority. Due obstacles, there technical-scientific studies aid with developing design guidelines. This work evaluates rheological hardened compositions that simulate in-field conditions show inadequacy method way understand lack in technology. The research investigates how changes water-to-cement ratio, increase strength, would affect fresh state grout’s was done rheometer which made it possible determine behaviour parameters during under different shear conditions. Compressive porosity, air-permeability were evaluated state. results showed more cement content does not necessarily reflect enhanced since differences statistically significant, because other variables also changed. findings suggest practice may appropriate potentially result waste cementitious materials no-eco-friendly compositions.
